The Home of Martha and Henry

Hello. We're Martha and Henry and this is our place.

Here is where you will have a chance to speak directly to Premier Klein during the run-up to the next provincial election. The Premier says "He listens, he cares".  We are  giving him an opportunity to listen to ordinary Albertan's and to tell us how much he cares.

Here's the way it works.

Martha and Henry (that's means all of you Albertan's) will post questions on this website that you would like to direct at the Premier, his Ministers, and other Progressive Conservative  MLA's who currently control our government. That's the listening part. The Premier or his team at the Public Affairs Bureau will be given an opportunity to respond by posting answers to these questions. That's where he can show us how much he cares.  The opposition parties in the Province will also be given a chance to post their views directly.

Martha and Henry, - you and me, -  we ordinary Albertans; can participate in a couple of ways.

First way.  Every article has at the bottom something like posted by Martha & Henry at 5:52 AM 3 comments. This means that it was posted by Martha and Henry at 5:52 AM (we're early risers here in Alberta) and that 3 comments have been made to that article. If you click on the word comments  you will be shown the three comments that have been made so far. If you want to add your two cents worth then click on the link that says Post a comment. This takes you to a Comment Sign In. Here you click on Post anonymously and you can start typing your comment. You can click on the Preview button any time to see how your comment looks. When it looks the way you want it, click on the Publish your Comment button and you're done. Try it out. It's easy

Second way.  If you have a question that you would like us to ask then e-mail it to Martha & Henry at marthaandhenry@gmail.com. Any issue is fair ball; - deregulation, healthcare, education, seniors, homeless people, ethics, government waste or anything else you want. We'll either post it as is or combine it with other related questions we have received. Please tell us if you want your name included with your question. If you don't say so, we won't include it.

A Few Guidelines:
If we think that any comment posted is not appropriate we will remove it completely. We cannot and will not edit it. By not appropriate we mean using foul language, slanderous, or completely off-topic. We will never remove comments because views don't match ours. Articles posted by the political parties will never be edited or deleted. They have the ability to do that themselves.
Please try to stay on-topic with your comments. If you want to start a new topic, e-mail us with your idea and we'll try and get it into an article.
You may want to include your name in your comments or you may not. This is up to you. It's your space.

That's it. We hope you enjoy our place and that it will be an effective way for Albertans and their politicians to have a meaningful dialogue as we approach the fall election in our fair province. If you have any thoughts about how we can make this website more effective we would be happy to hear from you.  We'll try to adapt as we go along. Just send an e-mail to Martha & Henry at marthaandhenry@gmail.com with your ideas.

Hope to hear from you all soon

Martha and Henry

A few technical things for those who care. Totally unimportant for those that don't.

  1. If you have a Blogger ID you can sign into Blogger when you make your comments and your Blogger display name will be attached to the posting. This is instead of commenting anonymously.
  2. Comments can include only the following HTML tags. <a> (for making links)  <b> (for making text bold) and <i> (for making text italicized). So let's say in your comment you wanted to say:

This is extremely important. I can't overemphasize this enough. For further details go to the Public Interest Alberta website by clicking here.

This is what your comment would have to look like:

This is <b>extremely</b> important. I can't <i>overemphasize</i> this enough. For further details go to the Public Interest Alberta website by <a href="http://www.pialberta.org/">
